Received an offer from King’s College London but still working towards meeting the English language requirements? KCL offers a variety of flexible Pre-sessional English (PSE) courses designed to help international students transition smoothly into their degree programmes. Whether you're an undergraduate or postgraduate, and whether you prefer online or on-campus learning, KCL has a pathway for you.
Types of Pre-sessional Courses & Eligibility
KCL’s PSE courses are divided into Undergraduate and Postgraduate streams, with further options based on duration and delivery mode:
16-week Combined course: Blended online and on-campus learning, suitable for UG & PG students needing more support.
11-week courses: Available both online and on-campus for UG and PG students.
6-week intensive courses: Ideal for students closer to meeting the direct entry language requirements.
Entry Requirements & Calculator Tool
KCL uses a clear banding system for PSE entry and provides a helpful Pre-sessional English Calculator to estimate the required course length. Detailed requirements are outlined in the official *KCL Pre-sessionals Entry Requirements 2025* PDF.
Tip: Different degree programmes correspond to different language bands (e.g., Band A–E). Check which band your programme falls under before applying.
